Cake!

My husband recently graduated from his Master's program (congratulations, boo!). I know it wasn't always rainbow sprinkles and fun times, but I'm so proud of him for going for it and seeing it through. Plus, there was cake after the ceremony!

Even this guy got some. He was eating so quickly. I think the sugar was going straight to his little brain.

For "dessert after dessert," we had farmer's market peaches and homemade yogurt, with a little ginger sprinkled on top. My husband makes the best yogurt; I'll have to share a tutorial soon.

Yesterday I went for a trail run during my lunch break. I feel so fortunate to have this gorgeous park right in the neighborhood...even if I got lost. Oops.

I have the most terrible sense of direction, which endlessly flabbergasts my husband. Once, when we were in Mexico City, we entered a store. Upon exiting, he quizzed me: "Which direction did we come from?" Uh...

Do you have a good sense of direction?

  1. Getting lost on a run . . . it's only happened a couple of times. I momentarily freak out, until I can get my bearings again. Eek.

    1. Fortunately, I live in the city, so I'm never *too* far from another person or an identifiable road...but I still get nervous!

  2. Oh my, I am horrible with directions! Seriously, it's bad. I can't tell you how much I appreciate the "maps" app on my IPhone. It saves my life on a regular basis.
Congrats to your husband! That squirrel picture is too funny.

    1. I'm glad I'm not the only one who's bad with directions!

So great to have met you on Saturday! Hope to see you again soon :)

  3. so much of what you wrote today resonates with me. First, I also love homemade yogurt. My mom has shown me how to make it and it's so easy so I have no excuse not to make it. Second, I'm just getting ready to do a trail run and was about to bail until I read this. Third, that squirrel is too cute. It reminds me of a bird I saw in Jamaica that stole a sugar packet and tore it open and ate the contents

    1. Watching animals eat sugar like that kinda freaks me out because I know their little bodily systems aren't really meant to handle it.

  4. Aww, congrats to your boo! That is such an accomplishment. I'm pretty good with direction but I get nervous on trails because you just never know in the woods! It can be so confusing. I'd love to read/see a yogurt tutorial!

    1. Thanks, Allie! I'm proud of him.

It's so easy to get turned around in the woods, especially when there aren't really landmarks.

ps - We missed you on Saturday! Hope to meet you at another time :)

    1. Ah! The MBA is NO JOKE. It's on my bucket list for sometime in the very, very, very distant future.

      Big congratulations to him!

  8. Your husband makes yogurt? Too cool! And oh my gosh, no sense of direction. I CANNOT do left or right to save my life, and still have to use my GPS to navigate the Interstates around my city.

    1. I get lost in new places, but also in familiar places, too. I can read a map, but that's about it.

  10. I have a good sense of direction. My boyfriend does not. So when we go hiking I'm in charge of getting us back. :)

    1. It's funny how the directed and the direction-less seem to make great couples :)
