Dogs and Weights

Happy Wednesday! I hope your week has been going well so far.

On Monday, I went for a lovely trail run during my lunch break. The weather has been absolutely perfect for running through the woods.

I stumbled into this wonderful gang while running. The woman was a dogwalker and kind enough to let me snap a quick photo. Look at that motley crew of faces! That must be a really fun job.

Later, at home, we did some redecorating.

This is a photo of my closet. We removed the hideous doors and instead hung some homemade curtains for a much cleaner, more subtle look.

It also just so happens that this curtain rod is super sturdy...

...because it's actually a pullup bar! One of my friends is moving to Seattle and generously left his pullup bar behind. It's been on our wishlist for a long time, especially now that our apartment is cool enough to accommodate more active exercises than just whining and napping.

I still can't do a chinup or pullup (I had to jump for this photo) - but, that's why my strength training goal is a goal. Hopefully soon!

My friend also gave us his set of adjustable dumbbells. We've got more plates than I'll ever need, and they stack nicely. I'm excited to take my home workouts up a notch.

My husband likes to say that everything will come to you in time, no matter what it is, if you're willing to wait long enough. He was definitely right in this case :)

If you want something, do you believe in immediate gratification or in waiting?
I am a very cautious person, so I'm all about waiting - what you want now, you may not want later.

Can you do a chinup or pullup?
Not yet, but I'm working on it!

  1. I could barely handle the "flexed arm hang" in elementary school! I think I'm stronger now, but still not able to do an unassisted pullup.

  2. I used to be able to do one full pull-up . . . but I haven't tried in a while, so I'm not sure I still could.

Something to work on, right?!? :)

  3. I loooove my pull-up bar. Everyone makes fun of me because it's really obviously placed/in my kitchen doorway, but I love walking past a doing a pullup when I move from room to room. Smart to be a little sneakier with the curtain rod function! You'll definitely get there, I never used to be able to do one! And now I'm working on a goal of being able to do ten in a row. I'm half way there. And don't get me started on wide-grip, those things are IMPOSSIBLE.

  4. That looks like a glorious running path! Also, I laughed out loud when I saw you "pulling" yourself up on your "curtain rod". Hahaha, I can't do a pull up to save my life either!

  7. I haven't tried to do a pullup in forever. So I'm betting that no, I can't do one unassisted! My arm strength is pitiful.
I love when I see dog walkers around here. :)
